Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2019

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, University of Windsor's 648 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $96,752,242.03 in 2018.

Topping the list for the University of Windsor was President and Vice Chancellor Emeritus Alan Wildeman, who brought home $366,375.04 in 2018.

Following Alan Wildeman was Interim President; Provost and Vice President Academic; Professor J. Douglas Kneale, with annual earnings of $329,726.52. Professor Hoda Elmaraghy made $280,399.56, Professor; Dean, Faculty of Engineering Mehrdad Saif made $264,067.32, and Professor Niharendu Biswas round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $260,027.88 for the University of Windsor 2019 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2018, 80 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 285 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 232 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 42 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 7 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 2 received over $300,000 at the University of Windsor.
