Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2023

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Attorney General's 2,400 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $427,260,223.87 in 2022.

At the top of the Attorney General Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Attorney General was Deputy Attorney General David Corbett, who brought home $394,546.14 in 2022.

Following David Corbett was Assistant Deputy Attorney General, Policy Division Jane Mallen, with annual earnings of $298,660.10. Assistant Deputy Attorney General, Civil Law Division Michel Helie made $297,634.31, Director Susan Orlando made $288,901.97, and Executive Advisor and Chief Legal Counsel Catherine Stewart round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $277,393.83 for the Attorney General 2023 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2022, 308 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 661 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 385 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 962 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 83 received between $250,001 and $300,000 , and 1 received over $300,000 at the Attorney General.
