Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 1998

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Cancer Care Ontario was President & CEO Charles Hollenberg, who brought home $295,218.95 in 1997.

Following Charles Hollenberg was Director of Research Stefan Gluck, with annual earnings of $207,871.08. CEO/ Radiation Oncology Harbhaan Dhaliwal made $191,540.83, CEO/ Radiation Oncology Randal Bissett made $183,815.39, and Head Radiation Oncologist Sunil Gulavita round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $179,719.31 for the Cancer Care Ontario 1998 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 1997, 75 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 32 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 14 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Cancer Care Ontario.
