Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2000

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Finance's 37 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $4,469,639.04 in 1999.

At the top of the Finance Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Finance was VP Corporation Dev. JODIE PARMAR, who brought home $259,468.10 in 1999.

Following JODIE PARMAR was President & CEO, Ontario SuperBuild DAVID L. LINDSAY, with annual earnings of $173,620.72. Deputy Minister BRYNE PURCHASE made $156,503.10, ADM Tax Revenue ROY A LAWRIE made $141,327.80, and Exec.Lead Current Value Assess M ELIZABETH PATTERSON round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $138,432.25 for the Finance 2000 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 1999, 22 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 12 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 2 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Finance.
