Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2005

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Labour's 52 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $6,105,659.80 in 2004.

Topping the list for the Labour was Deputy Minister JILL HUTCHEON, who brought home $186,509.44 in 2004.

Following JILL HUTCHEON was ADM, Policy Division LORI NEWTON, with annual earnings of $167,397.70. Deputy Minister PAAVO KIVISTO made $166,877.10, Provincial Physician LEON GENESOVE made $159,122.30, and Chief Information Officer CHRIS RENAUD round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $150,549.10 for the Labour 2005 Sunshine List.
