Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2007

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Children and Youth Services's 33 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $4,438,881.29 in 2006.

Topping the list for the Children and Youth Services was Contract Psychiatrist RICHARD ANDREYCHUK, who brought home $206,619.70 in 2006.

Following RICHARD ANDREYCHUK was Contract Pediatrician CLARE MITCHELL, with annual earnings of $203,703.18. Contract Pediatrician KATARINA ROVIS made $203,703.18, Contract Psychiatrist G. TONI SWART made $203,703.18, and Deputy Minister JUDITH WRIGHT round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $196,616.87 for the Children and Youth Services 2007 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2006, 10 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 14 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 5 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 4 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Children and Youth Services.
