Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2007

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Topping the list for the Economic Development & Trade was Deputy Minister DONALD BLACK, who brought home $215,772.43 in 2006.

Following DONALD BLACK was Assistant Deputy Minister, Industry Division ROBERT SEGUIN, with annual earnings of $167,267.73. Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services Division DIANE FRITH made $155,487.74, Assistant Deputy Minister, Small and Medium Enterprise Division NEIL SMITH made $141,783.16, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Investment and Trade Division JOHN LANGLEY round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $130,178.17 for the Economic Development & Trade 2007 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2006, 16 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 19 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 2 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Economic Development & Trade.
