Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2008

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Community & Social Services's 133 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $15,895,082.11 in 2007.

At the top of the Community & Social Services Sunshine List

Topping the list for the Community & Social Services was Director, Operational Support Branch LAURO MONTEIRO, who brought home $309,331.26 in 2007.

Following LAURO MONTEIRO was Manager, Residential Services MARK WOODWARD, with annual earnings of $225,528.89. Assistant Deputy Minister, Accessibility Directorate of Ontario ANDREA MAURICE made $220,497.82, Deputy Minister LUCILLE ROCH made $208,948.29, and Chief Information Officer HELENA TAYLOR round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $183,888.05 for the Community & Social Services 2008 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2007, 69 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 50 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 10 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 3 received between $200,001 and $250,000 , 1 received between $250,001 and $300,000 at the Community & Social Services.
