Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2013

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Aboriginal Affairs's 30 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $3,680,528.84 in 2012.

Topping the list for the Aboriginal Affairs was Deputy Minister LAURIE LEBLANC, who brought home $207,050.30 in 2012.

Following LAURIE LEBLANC was Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy & Planning ALISON PILLA, with annual earnings of $182,426.29. Assistant Deputy Minister, Negotiations & Reconciliation DOUGLAS CARR made $179,235.91, Assistant Deputy Minister, Aboriginal Relations & Ministry Partnerships HANITA TIEFENBACH made $139,136.58, and Director, Aboriginal & Ministry Relationships – Resource & Economics PAMELA WHEATON round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $136,360.75 for the Aboriginal Affairs 2013 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2012, 10 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 17 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 2 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Aboriginal Affairs.
