Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2013

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Economic Development & Innovation's 127 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $15,224,439.62 in 2012.

Topping the list for the Economic Development & Innovation was Deputy Minister WENDY TILFORD, who brought home $237,627.58 in 2012.

Following WENDY TILFORD was Assistant Deputy Minister, Investment & Industry Division ANTHONY LA MANTIA, with annual earnings of $185,308.20. Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy & Strategy Division JOHN WHITEHEAD made $182,801.83, Assistant Deputy Minister, Innovation & Commercialization Division BRAD GRAHAM made $181,054.92, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Open for Business KATHERINE HEWSON round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $180,749.79 for the Economic Development & Innovation 2013 Sunshine List.

Breaking down the numbers

Among employees who received more than six-figure salaries in 2012, 58 received earnings between $100,000 and $110,000 followed by 58 who received between $110,001 and $150,000 , 10 received between $150,001 and $200,000 , 1 received between $200,001 and $250,000 at the Economic Development & Innovation.
