2017 Sunshine List: eHealth Ontario top earners

Every year Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants, which includes nurses, teachers, police officers, and firefighters, with six-figure salaries. In eHealth Ontario, 309 staffers made the list this year, earning a total salary of $38,852,292.99 in 2016.

At the top of the Sunshine List

Topping the list for eHealth Ontario was Chief Executive Officer Cynthia Morton who brought home $389,559.31 in 2016.

Following Cynthia Morton was Executive Vice President Technology and Operations / Vice-président directeur, technologie et opérations Steve Gesner, who had annual earnings of $303,049.54. Senior Vice President Infrastructure Services / Vice-président principal, services d'infrastructure Robert Basque made $270,328.29, Senior Vice President Planning and Reporting / Vice-présidente principale, planification et production de rapports Samantha Liscio made $266,142.37 and Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer / Directeur général de l'administration et directeur général des finances Allan Gunn round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $252,608.78 for the eHealth Ontario 2017 Sunshine List.

The Sunshine List

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, makes Ontario's public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

In Ontario the Sunshine List was first published in 1996, by the Progressive Conservative government of Mike Harris. Just 4,576 names appeared on the first list.
